David C. Metz, MD

Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania

David C. Metz, MBBCh, is a professor of medicine and associate chief for clinical affairs in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he is director of the Acid-Peptic Disease Program and co-director of the GI Physiology Laboratory, the Swallowing Disorders Program and the Neuroendocrine Tumor Program. His clinical research investigates Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, H. pyloriem> infection, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug gastropathy, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. He has expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients with functional and non-functional neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas and alimentary tract. Dr Metz earned his MBBCh (MD equivalent) from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Bonita (Bonnie) Bennett, RN, BSN

Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine

As Nurse Coordinator for the Neuroendocrine Tumor Treatment Program at the University of Pennsylvania, since its inception in September 2010, Bonnie has provided vital support for the program and cared for patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) and pheochromocytomas / paragangliomas (PCC/PGL). The center has established itself as a unified program for both of these neuroendocrine tumor subtypes, which makes the program unique in the country. She has been with the University of Pennsylvania Health System for over twenty years with nursing experience in a variety of settings other than neuroendocrine, including nephrology, dialysis, research and out-patient clinics.

Grace Goldstein

The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation

Grace Goldstein is Chief Operating Officer of the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, where she has worked for 15 years. Grace represents CCF on the International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance (INCA). CCF is one of the founding members of the organization. Grace was chosen by her colleagues to be the first President of INCA in 2013 and has also served on INCA’s Board of Directors. In 2014, she received the Warner Award for Patient Advocacy, presented by Novartis Oncology. The award was established in 2009 to commemorate the life and work of the late Monica Warner. Prior to joining the staff at CCF, Grace was Director of Public Information and Alumni Affairs at the State University of New York at Purchase and she has also been an indexer, copy editor, and proofreader for many major publishing companies.

Beth Leonard, PMP, ITIL, CSSBB

Patient Presenter - Director, Delivery Excellence and FSO at Attain

Ms. Beth Leonard is an award-winning speaker in her field; frequently invited to both local and international-level industry events to speak about such topics as customer satisfaction, organizational statistical analysis and metrics development, CMMI, ISO, management reviews and techniques, as well as quality assurance. Beth is also Living with Neuroendocrine Cancer with Carcinoid Syndrome. She is a single mother of two boys; Dominic, age 17, a senior in high school who lost his father his freshman year and is struggling to cope with his mom's illness; Christopher, age 22, is an Infantryman for the United States Army National Guard. Beth enjoys family time, stand up paddleboard, yoga, and helping others (is a self-care ambassador between NETS Cancer patients and Health Storylines, volunteers as a mentor with Fairfax County Child Protective Services, as well as encourages other women to maintain a positive self-image and increased physical fitness through yoga and dance instruction.) She most recently won the 2018 United Way Mentor of the Year award for the National Capital Area.

Beth is a well-respected executive with over 20 years of quality assurance and process improvement experience across the government contracting industry. She has numerous certifications including ITIL Expert - Trainer - and Proctor, ISO Auditor, Black Belt Six Sigma, and PMP, and has strong experience in CMMI-DEV, CMMI-SVC, and NIST standards. In conjunction, she has previously held positions in the areas of program/project management, security management, service management (operations/service desk), and all support functions within the software and service development lifecycle.

Ms. Leonard has implemented and maintained customer satisfaction programs, organizational metrics programs based on Six Sigma statistical techniques, as well as corporate and project level quality and process programs based on best practices from ISO, ITIL, PMPBOK, and the CMMI frameworks and standards.
